f you have found yourself with a timeshare contract that you no longer want, need, or use then it may be time for you to consider the options you have for getting out of your timeshare. Many owners contact us who no longer want their timeshare ownership's and the number one question we are asked is how much does it cost to get me out of my timeshare contract?
Unfortunately, there is no one answer to this question as each timeshare ownership is different as are the personal circumstances of the owners themselves and these factors must be considered when calculating the cost of your timeshare termination.
So, whilst this article can’t tell you the exact cost for you to cancel our timeshare contract without further information, we can let you know that our pricing for a timeshare cancellation starts from £999 all inclusive, with nothing to pay until you have full legal confirmation you are timeshare free.
Keep It Simple
Once you have made the decision to investigate how to get rid of your timeshare there are several factors that you should bear in mind to ensure things go to plan.
1- Avoid the cold callers
2- Don’t pay upfront fees
3- Use a registered company with a trading history
4- Do your due diligence
5- Don’t attend meetings and presentations
6- Always get a written contract and take time to review it
7- If it sounds too good to be true it probably is
Let’s look at these points in detail, you will see that they make sense
Why Avoid Cold Callers?
If you own a timeshare, we are pretty certain that you are receiving cold calls. Timeshare owner data is a valuable commodity to unscrupulous companies who have bought stolen databases containing all your information. This data is then sold on, until many‘companies’ are calling you on a weekly basis. But did you know that since the GDPR data protection regulations came into force in June 2018 it is not legal for a registered company based anywhere in Europe to contact you if they obtained your contact information this way. To put it simply, by contacting you they are breaking the law! We recently had a call from someone who had received a cold call in which it was stated that they still owned their timeshare and had maintenance arrears and it would cost over £8,000 to get them out of the contract!!
The cold callers had a lot of information and the individual who contacted us was elderly and vulnerable. They were worried, the caller was very convincing as they knew a lot of personal information. Luckily, they went online and found our website, in a quick call with our customer services department we were able to re-assure them that as they had received full confirmation from their timeshare company that they had accepted the surrender of the ownership years ago, they did not have to pay £8000!
Why Shouldn’t You Pay Upfront Fees?
The Timeshare Exit market is awash with dubious companies(such as that mentioned above). They are more interested in signing up unsuspecting timeshare owners and taking upfront fees than they are in cancelling the timeshare ownership itself!
Here at The Timeshare Advice Line, we don’t believe you should pay a penny until you have received full legal confirmation you are out of your timeshare. We believe you should have peace of mind whilst your cancellation is ongoing and not have to take the risk of paying before the job is complete. Stick to this, and you can’t go wrong. Don’t pay upfront fees to anyone for a timeshare cancellation- no matter how plausible it sounds!
Why Use A Registered Company?
It’s simple common sense! Make sure you use a company that is fully registered with Companies House and has a trading history. That way you know that your cancellation is being handled by a legal UK business who will be adhering to UK law. The Timeshare Advice Line has been a registered company in England and Wales since 2015 with the registration number 09923793
Do Your Due Diligence!
Check that a company is registered and ask to see their reviews. If other clients have been happy with the service provided this should help to put your mind at rest.
Why Shouldn’t You Be Forced To Attend A Meeting?
Quite simply, meetings are often arranged for the purpose of persuading you to hand over large sums of money or signing up to contracts that contain unfair terms. If you are asked to attend a meeting, find out what you are likely to be charged before attending. This should prevent any wasted journeys.
Always Get A Written Contract And Take Time To Review It.
Don’t feel pressured to sign a contract without properly reading through all the terms. You should be given sufficient time to review an agreement before committing yourself. We would always email over an agreement for you to consider in your own time.
If It Sounds To Good To Be True It Probably Is!
The cost to exit a timeshare can vary vastly from company to company. You need to consider what has been promised to you, how realistic does it sound? If you have been guaranteed a huge amount of compensation, find out the legal basis for this guarantee - you may often find that this over exaggerated figure has been quoted to make an expensive cancellation contract seem more attractive to you.
If you simply want to know the facts for your situation, please our customer services team they are on hand to answer any questions you may have and will be able to let you know if you have a potential claim and more importantly what the cost would be to cancel your timeshare ownership.
